The Huskeys Have Left Qatar!

Where do I start. This blog has turned into a chronicle of Kelsey but as we board our 16.5 hour flight to Houston for the last time, we reflect on the amazing memories that we made while in Doha for the past 3.5 years. While we are so excited to return "home" we will greatly miss our home in the desert. If you had told me 3.5 years ago that a Muslim country in the Middle East would feel like home, I would have never believed you. While we will miss more than you might expect, this is no place like home! We are definitely leaving with amazingly fond memories and heavy hearts.

That being said, I leave you with the:

Top 10 Things I will MISS About Doha!

10. The very fine dust that blankets ANYTHING that stands still for more than a minute.

9. Taking the curb to get around traffic...I for one LOVE the driving here...especially when I was driving the Jeep!

8. The parking security guard at LuLus who unloads my groceries! LOVE HIM!

7. Paying $8 for a box of cereal.

6. Paying $. 70 for a gallon of gas...AND THAT IS FULL SERVICE!!!

5. The Mall Chilis staff...they were like family!

4. Watching the driver next to me pick his nose at a stoplight.

3. Kelsey being blessed by every local who walks past her.

2. "Honk" is translated into bring me anything I want as I am too lazy to get out of my car to get it myself!

1. Our friends from around the world! We are already anxious to see them again!

As we leave, I leave you with some lyrics from For Good-Wicked:

Who can say if I've been changed for the better? I do believe I have been changed for the better! I have been changed for good!

And we will miss the Huskeys dearly! Gina, my blog mentor, please keep us posted with, at the very least, Miss Kelsey's milestones and the new little Huskey that we wait anxiously to meet! Best wishes on your new life journey.

Ha! You will NOT miss the dust, what are you talking about? So, you made it safe and sound and settling into life in Houston now?

Thanks for sharing the pics. Sometimes I feel like people don't totally understand the Middle East. I haven't spent as much time there as you guys have (only been 7 times to various countries), but the times I've spent there give me a whole different appreciation for the people and the cultures there. It really is a place unlike any other. And it's pretty cool that you got to call it home for a while.
