Another Trip to Ray's Reef
Eleanor and I took the girls to Ray's Reef. Ray's Reef has several different areas for different age groups. At first they were both terrified. They warmed up when they saw a table full of baby dolls! Of course, by the end, we were dragging them out kicking and screaming! Typical! Of course, Kelsey found a Barney puppet, so she was in heaven!

Papa-Papparazi
It is really amazing how much attention these expat babes get here! Here, it isn't anything for a Qatari man or woman to just walk by Kelsey and grab her cheek. Today a group of school girls at the mall were more than pleased to snap a few photos of Kelsey and her friend. Most are polite and ask before snapping. Funny how our reaction would be so different if this were to happen in the states!
The security guard at the zoo was more than thrilled to snap a picture and I thought why not! Kelsey will never believe it when I tell her how popular she was...now I have the picts to prove it!

Water! After a Day at the Zoo!
My Papa has been teaching me how to drink out of a water bottle! He's a great teacher!
AND NO, I WASN'T DRIVING! JUST AT A LONG RED LIGHT!

Doha Zoo-Memories with Friends
So after such a sad review of the Doha Zoo, why did we go? Like I said, the kids can easily see the animals which is great. There is NO ONE at the zoo EVER! When we arrived there was one small group of students. Once they left, we were the only ones for the entire day! Can you believe it? The temperature is really warming up quickly this spring and Alyson and I wanted to get the kids outside while we still can.
Doha Zoo-The Animals
Oh what to say?! Animal lovers beware! This is a great zoo for the little ones because the animals aren't in their natural environments and are easy to see. However, as you will see in the pictures, the animals seem extremely sad and lonely (or completely overpopulated). Crazy that we don't hear about animal attacks because most of the cages are extremely accessible and there is a lot of evidence of people hand feeding the animals. It is really too bad that more time, attention and money are not put into the Doha Zoo.
Doha Zoo-The Zoo
Yup, there is a zoo in Doha! Why haven't I mentioned it before...well, because we have only been there one other time and I didn't take pictures because I was in disbelief that animals could be kept in the fashion that they are. It really is too bad, there isn't much to do in Doha, so a great zoo would really prosper here among the expat community. However, locally or culturally, I am not quite sure which, there doesn't seem to be much importance placed on animals within the country.
The grounds at the zoo have the potential to be quite nice, however they seem to be lacking some TLC. Seems that there was quite a bit of planning done, just not a lot of follow through.
