They went to Thailand...

...and all they brought me was this stuffed elephant!

Michael and I have returned from our week in Thailand. We had a wonderful time. More importantly we learned quite a bit about planning our next trip.

Probably the first thing that we noticed about Thailand was how green it is! Of course this is probably because we are used to looking at rock and sand. The weather was perfect and only rained our first afternoon.

The main religion in Thailand is Buddhism. It was so interesting to see how their religious traditions govern every aspect of their lives.

Pictures of Thailand to follow!

Class 1 World Powerboat Championship

Friday, Michael and I went down to the Corniche to watch the World Powerboat Championship. Today was just a pole positioning race and tomorrow will be the actual race. The boats were very loud as they raced through the water at 125 miles per hour. I think we did more people watching than boat watching!

And the Winner is...

Thailand!

Michael and I will be spending our 3rd anniversary in Thailand! We will be leaving Doha on November 21 and flying through Bangkok to Phuket. We will be spending four nights in Phuket at the Holiday Inn. I know, can you believe, we are going to Phuket to stay at a Holiday Inn? This resort has actually gotten wonderful reviews on tripadvisor and it really looks lovely. There are two wings to the resort, we will be staying in the Busakorn Wing, which is a brand new wing that appears to cater more to adults than children. We were able to secure a pool access room giving us direct access off of our patio and into one of the resort pools! I am so excited about getting this room and had to work very hard to reserve it! In Phuket, we will be visiting the spa, taking a cooking class and hanging out at the beach/pool!

We will leave on November 26 and head back to Bangkok where we will stay for three nights at the Amari Boulevard Hotel. We will fill our days in Bangkok with tours and shopping. I am most excited to see the floating markets as I have seen this on the travel channel and now cannot believe I get to see it for myself!

We will definitely be thinking of all of you on Thanksgiving as we are are eating Thai noodles being most thankful that we are not eating turkey!!! (just kidding!)

Fall Back!

It is that time of year when the time falls back one hour. Please note that Doha, Qatar does not participate in Daylight Saving Time. We will now be 9 hours ahead of most of you!
