Kelsey-2 Year Update

Michael and I are absolutely loving every second with Kelsey these days. Not that we haven't before, but it's so amazing to watch her grow, especially listening to her speech develop. I wish that I could video every second of each day as I just know that I won't remember all of the priceless moments!

Stats from her 2 year check up (actually 25 month):
  • weight: 22 pounds 14 ounces
  • height: 33.5 inches
  • head: 18.75 inches
The doctor asked if she had at least 50 words in her vocabulary and I laughed as she practically had that at her 1 year check up. Kelsey is still a num-num baby, we don't leave home without it, and yet this doesn't seem to impact her language development.

I pretty much know that we are about to have a major beast on our hands. Mostly because I can't stop laughing at everything she says. I wonder if it will be this funny the second time around!

A few "beastie" phrases that we hear quite a bit, you must imagine them being said with a VERY exaggerated expression:
  • "but I want it"
  • "help me, stuck" Kelsey thinks it is so funny to get herself stuck and call for help, we must be watching too many episodes of Wonder Pets
  • "move it"
  • "open it"
  • "come on" which includes hand gestures
  • "okay, fine"
  • "hey you"
  • "charge it"
  • "thank you, welcome"
  • "I got you"
  • "football, running, fast"
We are definitely in the repeat everything stage, her of us and us of her. She will repeat something 10 times or more until we say it.

A typical conversation for us these days:
Kelsey: "Happened!!!!"
Me: "What happened"
Kelsey: "Foot"
Me: "What happened to the foot?"
Kelsey: "Broken"

This is repeated a million times a day, and when it isn't a foot, it's the moon, a nose, eyes....ANYTHING! She is obsessed with things being "broken".

Seriously don't know where she comes up with any of it. I certainly can't believe that either of us speak in this manner! lol When Kelsey is upset with Daddy, she will often call him "Michael" which is absolutely adorable. not too sure if Michael thinks so! ;-)

She is super proud of herself when she counts "1, 2, 3"! In a bathtub full of letters, she can find and correctly identify Y, P, D.

She is very excited to meet her "Sissy"! She knows that Sissy will sleep in the "crib" and she will still be sleeping "right there" between Mommy and Daddy. She also knows "Sissy-cries-a lot"! She often goes into the nursery, looks around and says, "perfect"! So it looks like we are all anxious for "Sissy" to arrive.

Merry Christmas

Kelsey had a wonderful Christmas morning. It wasn't the type of morning where she went ripping through the wrapping. She was very systematic and made sure that everyone had a turn opening a present. She wanted everything opened and test driven! She was precious savoring every last moment. Her big present from Santa was an outdoor house which included a phone and a mailbox! Super exciting! Go figure...it has been 80 degrees all week here in Houston and last night a terrible cold front came through and made it impossible to wrap this or play much with it! Regardless, she loves it!

Now off to cook my yummy Christmas dinner (just couldn't take my baby to Denny's for Christmas dinner)! Appetizers are chilling and just waiting for the Toots to wake up from her nap!

Merry Christmas!!

One Last Tradition

From the Norman Rockwell Christmas book...A Visit From St. Nicholas ('Twas the Night Before Christmas). A fond memory that I have and I hope that Kelsey will remember as well!

Getting Ready for Santa

Kelsey thought that under the tree was a great place for a hungry Santa!

Family & Friends Christmas!

Kelsey learned a new phrase tonight..."my goodness"! So many presents have been sent by our family and friends who are too far to spend this Christmas with us this year. Michael and I decided to let Kelsey open all of these presents tonight and then give Santa the run of the house tomorrow. This actually worked out so well. She spent lots of time with each present and was so excited to see what each of you sent for her! Thank you all so much...she is one spoiled little girl!
