Sights of Ramadan

These pictures were taken at City Center Mall. Much like seeing Christmas displays in the mall, here the malls are decorated for Ramadan.

Yummy

Common questions that people ask us about living in Doha:
  1. What is the food like?
  2. Is the food good?
  3. Do you get good Mexican?
This picture should pretty much answer all those questions!

She's Movin' and Groovin'!

What is Kelsey climbing on? A camel saddle, what else? We live in the Middle East, remember?! ;-)

Christening Day for Kelsey

Today, Friday, August 21, Kelsey Marie was Christened at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Doha, Qatar. It was a hot and sunny day, imagine that! Kelsey was quite tired, but very cooperative through the ceremony. While not in attendance, her Godparents, Charlie and Teresa, were represented by Lucy and Roland, our wonderful friends in Doha.

After the Baptism, we had a small gathering at the house with some close friends. It was a wonderful day for a celebration.

Huge thank you goes out to our dear friends who shared this special day with us in the absence of family!

It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere!

You Don't See This Everyday...

...when you're driving!

And yes, those are baby camels! The drivers of these trucks thought I was insane for taking pictures! Oh well!

U.S. Beef

To much surprise, there seems to be pretty high standards as far as food safety goes. Until recently, US beef had not been imported. You see there is a fear that if US beef is sold, mad cow disease would be spread. Similarly, when there was a bird flu outbreak, eggs were incredibly hard to find. And the swine flu...oh well, there will NEVER be pork in Qatar! lol Kelsey and I were shopping yesterday and there was a huge sign-U.S. Beef! We have been seeing U.S. Beef in the hotels for some time now and in the grocery stores from time to time, but it has been quite expensive. So when I saw minced beef...aka...ground beef and reasonably priced, I bought. Just in case you are trying to convert, I paid about $5.75 for a pound of ground beef. Not bad, there is no tax here! ;-)

Rays Reef

Kelsey met some of her friends at Ray's Reef today. All of the malls in Doha have arcades/play areas...much like Chuck E. Cheese. Ray's Reef has a nice soft play area and Kelsey was able to crawl around a play. She loves to watch the other kids play too. After an hour and a half, she was beat!

Downward-Facing Dog

She tries!

I'm Trying

I am trying very hard to pull up and stand up. (My Mommy and Daddy are discouraging both!) I have LOTS of wonderful toys, but I still bee-line for any shoe or slipper that I can find!
